Forget store-bought toys, this year A got a mud pie kitchen for her birthday! I scoured local thrift stores for furniture that might work, but in the end used things we already had on hand. The girls have already spent hours in the kitchen preparing salads, soups, casseroles, and of course, mud pies.
But we have the most fun when we get to share the kitchen with friends!
Mud Pies and Other Recipes: A Cookbook for Dolls by Marjorie Winslow
I'd buy this book in a heartbeat if I thought my girls would actually read it... it's just too cute for words! Check it out on Amazon and see some of the adorable recipes inside.

ReplyDeleteWhat a neat idea! I loved things like this as a child. It can really boost a child's creativity! ~Val
ReplyDeleteThis is the best idea I've seen all year. Seriously--it's so fun and I love that it was her birthday present! Juliet is getting this for her birthday (or maybe earlier since her birthday is in January...we'd have to do a snow kitchen or something). :)
ReplyDeleteI pinned this. I'd pin it twice if I could.
When we have a propper fenced yard, I'll be sure to come back here and make something similar for my kids. It's truly awesome! I love it!!
ReplyDeleteHow fun! My sister used to do something like this with her friends. They'd get spices from the kitchen and pretend to cook outside.
ReplyDeleteThat looks like a lot of fun!
ReplyDeletePlease add Dandelion Greens to my mud pie, please! :0)

ReplyDeleteHappy muddy birthday!!!!! Such a terrific gift!
ReplyDeleteOh my goodness...Wish I'd seen this before my son's birthday. He'd love it. Maybe next year...I don't mind them playing with dirt and all, but when water gets involved too, I get a little more worried about the mess and getting it out of their clothes. I guess I just need to relax a little.
ReplyDeleteThis is pretty awesome and I know that my kids would love this too! I will have to look around and see what I can come up with for them! Thanks for the inspiration... as always! :)
ReplyDeleteSuper!!! It's the same way as in my childhood :)))
